What Mesh Built is, who it's for, how engagements work, and why communication comes before AI.

What is a fractional Chief of Staff?

A fractional Chief of Staff is a senior operator who embeds part-time with a founder, CEO, or senior-level operations leader (VP or Manager of Operations) to build the operating layer underneath them — the meeting cadence, the decision rights, the communication rhythms — so the company can run without routing every question through one person. “Fractional” means you get that capability for a defined scope and time, not a permanent full-time hire.

What does Mesh Built actually do?

We rebuild the operating layer underneath founder-led companies: communication systems, decision rights, process infrastructure, and AI governance. We diagnose how the company really communicates and decides, restructure the breakdowns causing the most friction, layer in AI only once the foundation holds, and then hand the running system back to your team.

Who is Mesh Built for?

Founder-led companies of any size experiencing growing pains. Organizations where clear communication and decision-making need to scale so the business moves without routing every question through one person.

What is the Mesh Method?

The Mesh Method is our framework for how communication and trust can be built at scale. Its core principle: govern communication first and optimize the operating layer. It runs in four phases — Diagnose, Restructure, Optimize, and Hand Off.

Why fix communication before adding a layer of tooling or AI?

Because tools and AI don't fix broken communication — they accelerate it. When there are no clear decision rights and no disciplined information flow, adding powerful tools just multiplies the sprawl. The foundation has to hold before the tools can create leverage instead of chaos.

What are the engagement options?

There are three. The Operating Layer Diagnostic is a fixed-scope, roughly two-week diagnostic. The Communication Sprint is a time-boxed fix for your two or three highest-friction breakdowns. The Full Engagement is the complete four-phase rebuild on a retainer with a three-month minimum. Each one starts with the same 30-minute call.

How long does an engagement take?

It depends on the tier. The Operating Layer Diagnostic runs about two weeks. The Communication Sprint is time-boxed over a defined set of weeks. The Full Engagement is a retainer with a three-month minimum and typically runs longer, through to handoff.

Do you replace our leadership team or COO?

No. We're not a permanent hire and we're not here to take authority away from your people — usually the opposite. A common finding is that capable leaders were never given real decision rights. We build the structure that lets them actually lead.

What happens after the engagement ends?

Your team runs the new system. The model is designed to end cleanly — extended dependency works against everything we're building. After handoff we stay in a standing partnership with periodic check-ins to make sure the structure holds.

How do we get started?

With a 30-minute call. No pitch — just a real conversation about what's stuck. From there we'll recommend the engagement that fits, usually starting with an Operating Layer Diagnostic if you're not sure where to begin.
